about

In some ways, a discarded or lost demo is the perfect song. Not striving for studio perfection, or rehearsed to within an inch of its life - just created, then put to one side. The pieces in this collection, recorded at CG21, fully capture the time and spirit of the early Insect Guide years. A DIY ethic that lasts to this day.

CG21 was a back-to-back terraced house in Armley, Leeds.
Su wrote poetry, sang and played clarinet on Ocean. Stan played guitar and recorded the songs. Grimiss played bass and keyboards. As far as memory allows, Light and Dead Eyes are the earliest tracks written by Insect Guide.

CG21 closed its creaky door for the last time in January 2013.
